What is F.A.C.T.™?
Our concept is called F.A.C.T.™, which is short for Facial Air Curtain Technology. Just as a commercial or industrial air curtain provides a wall of protective conditioned air to seal off stores from the outside, this concept provides a protective air curtain of purified filtered air flowing down and underneath the frontal brim of a cap. A separate small fanny pack houses the miniature turbo air compressor, the 3M™ N95 inlet filter, 8 hour battery supply and the needed surgical tubing air hose.
The increased weight in the baseball cap is less than 1 ounce. The weight of the full up fanny pack is only 1.4 pounds.
We are up to the Mk 4 development version now, with highly improved CAD designed and 3D printed parts for the air distribution system. We have completed wind lab testing of mannequin heads with and without the F.A.C.T.™ cap with stunning success in protecting the full face. We are still finessing the acoustics to bring it down below 40db. Assembled cost for the Mk 4 version now is under $84 USD. High production cost reductions down into the $25 range are possible, with a proposed retail target price of $100.
